The Children at Green Pastures, like all other
children, eagerly look forward to trips into the
community. Experiences outside the home help
them to learn survival and community living
skills as they maneuver wheelchairs and interact
with people in everyday situations. The people
who meet the Green Pastures family as we
participate in "normal" activities, come to see
that children with disabilities are really no
different inside than any other child.
Everyone benefits as the Green Pastures
children ride the Giant Dipper roller coaster in
Santa Cruz, attend a
local play, or frolic at the beach.
Regular outings include:
- Picnics at the park
- Trips to the zoo, children's theatre,
movie matinees
- Meals out at local restaurants
- Horseback riding
- Swimming lessons
- Shopping excursions
- A week of family vacation at Mt. Hermon,
a nearby conference center
- Tent camping in Tahoe or Yosemite
- Plus camps designed for children with
special needs
