Medical and Program Coordinator Position Available

Working under the direction of the Director, will seek to provide and ensure the best possible care & program for the children. This includes: medical care, education, family life, spiritual support & growth, individual programs, staff medical & in-service training, community involvement and regular communication with parents, social workers, teachers, therapists, doctors, etc.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Daily Life & Family Experiences and Program Advocate
    • Develop individual programs for four of our children (i.e., goals and objectives; e.g., toilet training, behavior & discipline, sensory motor, cognitive and independence in ADL’s).
    • Write quarterly reports for each child.
    • Monitor and communicate changing needs of children to staff, proposing and implementing changes in approach, as necessary.
    • Assist our childcare staff in providing spiritual support and training for our children.
    • Plan and carry out activities, in particular for school holidays, for sick children, and for special events.
    • Organize the packing of clothing and equipment for camp, Mt. Hermon and camping trip.
    • Wardrobe—changed 2 times per year (buy new or thrift store clothing). Order and purchase supplies.
  2. Educational
    Monitor and evaluate the appropriateness of four of the children’s school placements, on an on-going basis.
  3. Parents
    Together with the Administrator, attend IPP’s & IEP’s. Invite parents to Green Pastures’ events (e.g. Birthdays & Christmas Party), and to their children’s IPP, quarterlies, and IEP.
  4. Medical & Health
    • Medical & dental appointments as needed (including vaccinations and physicals).
    • P.T. & O.T., orthotics, seating and counseling appointments.
    • Arrange for hospitalizations and parentally approved surgeries & post-operative follow through. Support the child & his/her family, and the staff. Assist in scheduling staff, volunteers & yourself to be with the child as much as possible.
    • Order or purchase meds, PRN, new and routine; and maintain all medication records.
    • On-call for medical concerns 24 hours a day during the week, plus one weekend a month (available by pager or cell phone).

Qualifications

  • Love for Jesus and a desire to serve Him in compassion ministry.
  • Love for children, especially those with special needs.
  • BA (or comparable experience) in Nursing, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Special Education, or similar field.
  • Organized.
  • Excellent people and advocacy skills.
  • Able to lift or transfer the children.
  • Able to drive the children to appointments.
  • Good reporting and record keeping skills.
  • Experience with children and people with developmental disabilities preferred.
