What is Green Pastures?

Green Pastures is a state-licensed non-profit Christian group home where six disabled children live on a long-term basis. Families with disabled children sometimes find themselves unable to meet the child's needs, and must place the child in a residential facility. Sometimes, given the necessary support, these children have been able to return to their families. Our four-bedroom home is located in Mountain View, and our 'family' is fully included as one of the families on our friendly, kid-focused cul-de-sac.

In addition to the 6 children we parent full-time, we provide short-term care for children who live at home--giving the parents a much needed break. Our "respite workers", as they're called, often develop long term relationships with these families, while providing the care in the child's own home.

We conduct respite training to groups who are interested in learning to care for those who have a disability.

The Green Pastures Family consists of....

  • Children from six to 18 with developmentally disabilities.
  • Well-trained staff who provide daily care, coordinate medical treatment, implement and oversee therapy and administrate the home.
  • The Board of Directors and Advisory Board, members of the community who are committed to the purpose and work of Green Pastures.
  • Volunteers who give of their time to do whatever is needed.
  • Plus our Family Support Program -- providing a variety of supports to families in the community, caring for children or adults with disabilities.

Our mission statement...

Our primary goal is to provide a small, family-like environment for disabled children where they are loved and challenged to develop their full God-given potential physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.

Our other goals include: providing assistance to families with disabled children in the community, so that they can continue to care for their children in their own homes; and to provide an understanding of the disabled, and to understand God's view of disability throughout the community and in the local churches.
